NOIRE :: You are currently on tour to promote “Metempsychosis”, your new album. You have notably traveled to Scandinavia alongside Gorgoroth and to Douceur Noire in Crosne. How are you feeling and what are your impressions of this tour?

BLISS OF FLESH (SIKKARDINAL) : There are two elements to the question, actually. We feel great, especially because we're thrilled with how the album was received during the tour. It was our first time touring Northern Europe, and we were incredibly well received at every show, even exceeding our expectations. We were happy to have people who understood what we were trying to do with this album.

BLISS OF FLESH (NECURAT) : The conditions were truly ideal, having worked with Massive Music allowed us to have optimal support so we could feel completely confident and comfortable on stage. It enabled us to rehearse the songs from “Metempsychosis” in the best possible conditions and to see, in fact, how the audience reacted to the songs we were playing for the first time. And it was extremely positive for us, so we're very happy.

Bliss Of Flesh - "The Awakening" (Metempsychosis | Black Lion Records)

NOIRE :: This fifth album was released on 17/10/2025 by Black Lion Records, it deals with despair and frustration in the face of Death's inexorable axe. What prompted you to write this work in seven days?

BLISS OF FLESH (SIKKARDINAL) : What led me to compose it in seven days was the death of several loved ones, which forced me to grieve as best I could. It wasn't intentional to compose it in seven days initially; there was a kind of urgency that had to be maintained in the way the album was composed because I wanted to be able to share it. When I compose, I always think about how George Sand composed her autobiography, "Histoire de ma vie" (History of My Life). If you try to work on it too much and spend too much time on it, you risk turning to falsehood and distorting it by trying to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Whereas my goal was to keep something a little raw, and perhaps even imperfect, but which sounded a little more genuine and authentic to the listener. The strength that Neccurat and I still share is that he managed to put the music into words as quickly as I did. So, it's not so much to say we were quick in composing it—it's not a race, which can actually work against us. But, in this particular case, the way it was done, with the objective we set for ourselves, I think it's the best possible medium and the best way to approach it, to live up to its potential. That's how I felt it, how it was composed, and how you wrote it too, Necurat, I know. But how it's received is another matter. I don't know.

NOIRE :: Your album evokes the vicissitudes and emotions experienced by someone who is gradually losing their senses. Symbolically, it represents an act of sacrifice in the face of the implicit pact made with Death. You also mention Goethe's "Faust."

BLISS OF FLESH (SIKKARDINAL) : You read our lyrics, thank you! (Laughter)

NOIRE : (Laughter) Yes! Is metempsychosis a hope of yours, and what is your relationship with Death?

BLISS OF FLESH (NECURAT) : So, there are a lot of things in what you're saying. For me, it was a rather unique album to write because I went through a lot of stages that made me unsure if the album would ever be completed. Even though it had to come out, I didn't really know how it would happen. With Sikkardinal, there's a kind of connection between us that means we don't need to speak to feel a kind of osmosis.

NOIRE : Yes, I saw it right away!

BLISS OF FLESH (NECURAT) : But it was complicated, incredibly agonizing, a kind of ordeal. The relationship with Death, this theme has always been central since I started making music. It has always intrigued me, I've always been haunted by it. I couldn't have written this album at 20, or perhaps not in the same way, because these are things I couldn't have experienced. For me, it's a very particular and very personal testament to our lives, and even within the band, because we wrote this album from the gut. You mentioned Goethe's "Faust," and indeed, I do refer to it, but compared to the other albums, it's something secondary. I used to start with a book to inspire my writing, but this time I wanted to break free from all that and draw inspiration from myself, actually. It was painful, and I really wanted that pain to come through. I came later to flesh it all out a bit with Goethe, but more in terms of the pact with life. From the moment life begins, death arrives. They're intertwined; it's the snake biting its own tail.

NOIRE : The Ouroboros ?

BLISS OF FLESH (SIKKARDINAL) : Yes, that's it! It's a virtuous circle, rather than a vicious one, hence the metempsychosis in question.

BLISS OF FLESH (NECURAT) : That's it, exactly!

BLISS OF FLESH (SIKKARDINAL) : What I really like about the reference to Goethe is that we find this concept of a pact there, through the devil. You mention Death, but in reality, the two are intimately linked. Moreover, I always have this quote from Gide in mind, where he says that there is no work of art without collaboration with the devil. And I was thinking about that, in the context of metempsychosis.

NOIRE : We're a little bit haunted by those things.

BLISS OF FLESH (NECURAT) : You see, just talking about it gives me goosebumps. I can't cheat myself, really. What we do, we do from the gut, I can't really describe it, and just talking about it feels strange, so let's move on to something else.
